Planning / Scope before price

Price the responsibilities. Then compare the offer.

A meaningful archive quote must describe what is collected, what is verified, how long it is maintained, and what happens when you need it back. Archive-specific pricing has not been set.

There is no published Archive price yet

Death X is developing the Archive program and has not established an Archive-specific fee schedule. The website’s separate proposed founding membership terms should not be interpreted as a validated price for the scope described here. No payment or enrollment is offered through this program section.

A future quote should identify every included deliverable and every recurring obligation. It should also explain what is optional, what depends on third-party assessment, and what is excluded. A single headline number is not enough to compare decades of custody.

Separate setup costs from ongoing care

Potential setup components include planning, professional collection, sample processing, identity checks, appropriate quality tests, initial data capture and archive organization. Optional research services such as creating a cell line or an organoid should have separate scope and acceptance criteria.

Ongoing costs could include professional storage, monitoring, inventory maintenance, digital integrity checks, format migration, support and permission updates. Retrieval, testing, shipping and provider transfer may create additional charges. The quote should make clear which of these are covered by the recurring fee.

Compare like-for-like deliverables

A DNA sequence file, a tube of extracted DNA, a viable cell bank and a reprogrammed stem-cell line are not interchangeable purchases. For digital services, cloud space, a curated archive and a synthetic avatar also represent different responsibilities. Compare the output and the evidence, not just the marketing category.

Ask what happens when the company changes

A long-lived archive needs a plan for a provider’s closure, acquisition, insolvency or inability to continue. Before signing, a prospective member should be able to inspect the relevant provisions and understand who is responsible for arranging and paying for transfer.

Terms such as “lifetime” or “forever” do not describe a workable operating plan on their own. The contract needs an identified duration, funding obligations, limitations and remedies. The proposed Death X specification would make those items visible rather than leaving them to a future negotiation.

Do not price an unproven future as a delivered benefit

Research participation, if offered, should be separately described. A future scientific possibility is not a current treatment, a financial return, or a guaranteed route to revival. No proposed fee can make an unavailable technology certain.

For a private briefing, bring the outcomes you value and request a written scope. The useful question is: what would exist after the work is completed, what evidence would demonstrate its quality, and what continuing duties would the provider owe?

Common questions

What else should you know?

Does this page quote market prices?

No. Provider-specific scopes vary, and this page does not present unverified price comparisons. It gives a framework for obtaining comparable written quotes.

Does banking guarantee eligibility for future treatment?

No. A future use may have different collection, processing, quality or regulatory requirements.

Can I pay for the program now?

No payment or enrollment is available here. The program is in development.
